Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today is a special day for two reasons. The first is that this is my fiftieth blog post, and the other reason is what I will be discussing today. Today we get to celebrate something that doesn’t happen too often. Loretta Lynn became a member of the “Grand Ole Opry” 60 years ago today, which I think that is something worth celebrating.

Loretta made her Opry debut on October 15, 1960, and almost two years later on September 25, 1962, she became an official member of the “Grand Ole Opry.” It is an honor for anyone to become an Opry member, but to spend 60 years of your life as an Opry member is something even more special, because not many people live long enough for that to happen to them. It’s hard to say how many more years Loretta will get to spend as an Opry member, considering she is 90 years old, but I hope she will have many more years to go.

Loretta is not the only person who is celebrating an Opry anniversary this year. On July 29, Barbara Mandrell celebrated 50 years as a member of the Opry, and on September 16, Jeannie Seely celebrated 55 years as a member of the Opry. It’s pretty cool that three legendary women in country music are all celebrating anniversaries at the Opry.

I want to take a minute to thank everyone who takes time out of their day to read my blog. I can’t believe I have written 50 of them. If you know anyone who loves country music please tell them about “Country Music 4 Ever,” I would really appreciate it. I’ll be back soon!
