Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! There are so many awesome new artists who are starting to make a name for themselves in country music such as Hudson Westbrook, Ty Myers, and Braxton Keith. There’s a good chance you may not know who these people are yet, but I don’t think it will take long before you know exactly who I’m talking about.

There are also so many new female artists who are incredible and have what it takes to be the next biggest thing in country music, but they don’t get the attention they deserve. The number of women country radio is willing to play keeps dropping through the years.

The 90s were an awesome decade for women in country music. Artists like Trisha Yearwood, Jo Dee Messina, Martina McBride, and so many others were on top of their game in the 90s and the radio wasn’t afraid to prove it. Between 1995 and 1999, there were a total of 39 number one songs by solo female artists, all female bands, or some were all female duets.

For a five year period like that, 39 all female number ones is incredible. I don’t know if that will ever happen again the way things are going. Just to give you something to compare this number to, between 2020 and 2024, there were a total of 9 all female number one songs. That’s right, only nine. That’s a major drop since the 90s and so far in 2025 it’s not looking too good.

As I said in the beginning, there are so many new female artists who are so talented, but I don’t know if the radio will play their music. I think that is why the radio is becoming more irrelevant and people are turning to streaming platforms. New artists get discovered on social media and then people find them on Spotify or Apple Music and stream their music. It’s just the new way the music industry works.
