Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I want to discuss one of my favorite Christmas songs. I have many favorites, but there is one I feel stands out from the rest, and I’ll explain why shortly.
The song is “Circle of Love” by Dolly Parton.
This is a simple yet perfect song in many ways. The chorus says, “Circle of love, halo of light, when Jesus was born on that Christmas night, and oh what a night that holy night was when Bethlehem glowed in a circle of love.”
There is a verse in the song where she says, “So Jesus was born, wore his crown of thorns, and He gave it all up to save all of us.” I don’t know of many Christmas songs that talk about more than just the birth of Jesus. This song talks about him giving His life for us. I really love how it talks about God’s whole plan for His one and only son coming to the earth. He had a plan for His son to be born just like the rest of us just to die 33 years later to save us all from our sins.
Throughout her career, Dolly has recorded songs about all kinds of subjects, but she has never stopped singing about God. It’s songs like this one that I think people connect with the most around Christmastime because it’s what Christmas is all about. God gave us the best gift we could ever get, and I love songs that celebrate that.
We are currently two weeks away from Christmas day, so I will have some more Christmas posts coming soon. Please stay tuned for that. Thanks for reading.
