Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I am going to talk about a song I heard recently by Drew Green. The song is called “Good Ol Man.” For those of you who aren’t familiar with Drew I’ll tell you a little about him.

Drew grew up in McMinnville, Tennessee, which isn’t too far from Nashville. He became a house band singer at “Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge” in Nashville for a while. He worked at a bank for a while then returned to his job at Tootsie’s, Drew and his wife decided he was going to give it five years to make it in the music industry. At the five year mark and with a baby on the way, Drew thought his music days were over. But when Florida Georgia Line recorded a song Drew co-wrote called “Colorado,” all of Drew’s dreams of making it in Nashville came true. Because of FGL recording that song, Drew signed a publishing deal and a contract with “Warner/Chappell Nashville.”

The song “Good Ol Man” is a song Drew wrote for his son. The song talks about him becoming a better man because he knows his son is looking up to him. He wants his son to be a good man when he grows up, so Drew wants to be a good role model for him. The first verse of the song is “I’m cleaning up them dirty words I say these days. Showing up to church a little more on Sunday. I’m working on bad habit breaking. Cutting back on Copenhagen. Little less gas, little more break in my Chevrolet. Whatever it takes cause I got a gift from God sitting in the backseat. And i’ma need to be a little better if he’s gonna wanna be like me.”

Let me know what you think about this song. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon!
