Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! In 2019, Chris Young released one of the saddest songs I’ve ever heard. The song is called “Drowning.” Chris wrote this song about a friend of his who died tragically in a car accident. Chris debuted the song at the “Grand Ole Opry,” and despite needing to cut the song short because he began to cry, he still got a standing ovation.

I think everyone can relate to this song because we’ve all lost someone close to us. The chorus of the song says, “I’m gonna pull out pictures, ones with you in ‘em. Laugh and cry a little while reminiscing by myself. I can’t help that all I think about is how you were taken way too soon. It ain’t the same here without you. I gotta say, missing you comes in waves, and tonight I’m drowning.”

I think the last line of the chorus where he says, “missing you comes in waves, and tonight I’m drowning” paints the picture for the whole song. Whenever I hear that line, I just picture someone sitting, drowning in grief as they look back on the good times they had with someone who just passed away.

Thanks for reading, please let me know what you think. I’ll be back soon!
