Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Country music has so many songs that make you wonder how someone could ever come up with such a crazy story. Today I want to look at some of those songs.
The first song I want to discuss is “John Deere Green” by Joe Diffie. This song tells the story of Billy Bob and Charlene, who are high school kids. Billy Bob climbs on a water tower and paints a heart that is ten feet high and the words “Billy Bob loves Charlene” in a John Deere green color. The Town makes fun of him for not using red, but Charlene thinks it looks good because she’s so in love.
The next song is “I Don’t Even Know Your Name” by Alan Jackson. This song is about him going to a restaurant and sees a beautiful waitress wiping ketchup off a table. His waitress, however, was missing her front tooth and was not as attractive as the one cleaning up the ketchup. He then flags down the beautiful waitress for some coffee and tells her he loves her. He later has a bit too much to drink and proposes marriage. However, he doesn’t realize until the wedding that he actually proposed to the waitress who was missing her front tooth.
The last song I want to discuss is “Good Directions” by Billy Currington. This song is about him selling turnips off the back of his truck. As he’s eating a pork rind, a beautiful woman pulls up asking for directions. He then gives her directions to a little country store and tells her to go in and ask Miss Bell for some sweet tea. We later find out Miss Bell is his mom. Anyhow, he tells her a left will take her to the interstate, but a right will bring her right back to him. She then disappears into a cloud of dust, and he wonders why he let her go. But like all good stories, she comes back to him, and they live happily ever after.
I’d love to hear what your favorite crazy country storylines are. Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
