Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Since the start of their career in 2013, Dan and Shay have been pretty popular, but in the past couple years they have been one of the most talked about acts in country music. They topped the country charts eight times and they have won a whole bunch of awards, but within the last year I found myself asking, “What happened to Dan and Shay?” Last year they went to number one with the song “Glad You Exist,” but their follow up single “Steal My Love” peaked at number 26 and they haven’t had any radio success since then.

Before I continue, I want to say I am a fan of Dan and Shay and I always have been, but I think their music is starting to have more of a pop sound to it. I think their song “10,000 hours” was the start of their sound changing, which would make sense because Justin Bieber sings with them in that song. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing that they’re changing their sound, but if they still want to have success on country radio their new pop sound is not going to help them with that. I know country radio plays Walker Hayes and other pop sounding stuff, but that’s a whole other issue that I won’t get into today. Maybe Dan and Shay will prove me wrong and make a comeback at country radio. I can only hope that will happen.
