Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! After a lot of research, I found out something that I find very interesting. In the history of country music, only nine women/female acts in country music have had ten or more number one songs. It’s crazy to think that since the very beginning of country music, there hasn’t been more than nine. If you really think about all of the amazing women of country such as Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Kitty Wells, just to name a few. To think that none of them had more than ten number one songs is crazy.

Before I go into which women are a part of this, I will just say these nine women have a total of 141 number one songs all together. Just to compare, if you add up number one songs by George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and Tim McGraw, you get a total of 153. I only mention that because it is proof that women don’t have as much success as men in country music.

The women included in this are Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Tanya Tucker, Reba McEntire, Rosanne Cash, The Judds, and Carrie Underwood. I will have a list at the bottom of how many number one songs each of these women had, but I want to point out that there are so many men who could easily make this list. In fact, I think it might be interesting to make a list of men of country music with more than ten number ones just to compare.

I don’t think women will ever get the airplay they deserve, but one thing I do believe is it won’t be long before Lainey Wilson is on this list. I think she will definitely earn ten number ones in her career.
