Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! 20 years ago, Gretchen Wilson released her debut single, “Redneck Woman,” which went all the way to number one. However, in late 2005, she stopped having top ten hits and has not had much success since then. A few months ago she put out her first new song since 2018 called “Little Miss Runner-Up.”

It makes me wonder what happened to her for all these years. After a little research, I found out that fame started to become a little overwhelming for her. The pressure of being famous was difficult to deal with on top of being a single mother.

In 2013, Gretchen decided to take a break from music to focus on raising her daughter. I really respect her for making that decision because it’s got to be hard for women to be musicians and also raise families. A lot of women do it, but it doesn’t work for everyone.

Gretchen has since returned to touring now that her daughter is grown. Even though the radio won’t play her new music, she was still very successful.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
