Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! History was made over the weekend on the Grand Ole Opry, but not in a good way. On Friday night, Elle King took the stage at the Ryman Auditorium to perform at the Opry’s birthday celebration for Dolly Parton. By the time she took the stage for the second show of the night, she was “hammered,” which she announced to the audience.

Throughout Elle’s very explicit performance, she slurred most of her words and even forgot the lyrics to Dolly’s song “Marry Me” and told the audience not to tell Dolly because it’s her birthday. Little did she know her drunken performance would go viral, and I can guarantee Dolly found out she forgot the lyrics.

The Opry has since apologized to fans on social media for the language that was used during Elle’s performance. Considering the Opry is a family show, I’m sure they feel terrible about this performance, but I think Elle is the one who should be apologizing.

This was easily one of the most disrespectful Opry performances of all time. Not only was it disrespectful to the Opry, but also to Dolly. It was supposed to be a nice birthday celebration for Dolly, but it was ruined by a disrespectful drunken performance.

The thing that gets me the most is that the Ryman is a church, and even though they don’t hold church services there anymore it doesn’t change the fact that it is a church. The fact that she chose to act in that manner inside a church tells you a lot about the kind of person she is.

There is so much more that could be said about this, but the bottom line is she obviously has a drinking problem and I hope she gets help for the sake of her son, who is only two years old. I feel really bad for him. Neither Elle nor Dolly has made a public statement about her performance, but Elle owes everybody an apology.

Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments. I’ll be back soon!
