Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I want to talk about Laci Kaye Booth. I’m sure most of you don’t know who she is, but if you watched season 17 of “American Idol” you would know who I’m talking about.

The reason I am talking about Laci today is because she recently parted ways with her record label. The reason for her doing that is because she wasn’t given creative control of her music. Creative control is when you get to choose what songs you sing and how they sound. If you don’t have creative control of your music, somebody else will make all the decisions for you. Most of the time that is not a good thing.

I think it is a good thing she walked away, because if you aren’t happy with something, you should do something to change it. It is very hard for women to get creative control, because it is already ten times harder for women to make it in country music. Most women in country music are lucky to even get a record deal, so most of them wouldn’t even try to get creative control. I respect Laci for walking away from her record label, because I know there is someone out there who is willing to give her what she deserves. There are so many people who would sign a record deal just to become famous, but if you can’t sing what you want to sing, what’s the point in being famous? I don’t know if Laci will ever hit it big or not, but I wish nothing but the best for her.
