Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Scotty McCreery was crowned the season 10 winner of American Idol back in 2011. Since then, he has had a lot of success on country radio, but his success didn't really start until his record label dropped him.

Right after American Idol, he released his debut album “Clear as Day,” which had two top 20 singles, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls.” He then had two top ten singles off his sophomore album, “See You Tonight” and “Feelin' It.” “Southern Belle” was his third single from his sophomore album, but this song failed to chart. Scotty wasn't concerned though because his next single was going to be “Five More Minutes,” which he knew was going to be a hit. His label disagreed with him, so they dropped him. Scotty decided to release “Five More Minutes” on his own, and it became his first number one song.

This is proof that if you release great songs that people relate to, it doesn't matter if you have the support of a record label. People don't care what label you're signed to, they just care if you release good songs.

Scotty has signed with a new label since then, but this story shows that being signed to a major label isn't everything. There are so many independent artists who have become very popular because record labels aren't as important as they used to be. Radio isn't the only way to hear new music anymore.

Thanks for reading. I'll be back soon!
