Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Over the weekend, a new docuseries on The Judds aired on Lifetime called “The Judd Family: Truth Be Told.” It is a four part series, with each episode lasting about an hour. This series takes a deep dive into the lives of the Judd family, focusing on Naomi Judd.
Naomi lived with secrets from her childhood and teenage years that she never felt she could talk about, so she kept those things hidden for many years, and she struggled because of it. She dealt with many sleepless nights, just pacing back and forth because what she secretly dealt with wouldn’t let her sleep. I won’t get into details of what these things are, but if you are interested, the whole docuseries is available to stream on Hulu.
She struggled even more after becoming famous because Wynonna was the star of The Judds with her powerhouse voice and Naomi always tried to find new ways to entertain their crowds because she feared their label would drop her and only focus on Wynonna.
It’s terrible how much Naomi struggled throughout her life with so many things. This series paints a really good picture of what it was like for her to go through these things and even though The Judds were one of the biggest acts in country music at the time, she still struggled with depression.
One of her dreams was to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, but sadly that honor came a few days after she passed away. It often makes me wonder if that honor would’ve come just a little sooner if she would still be here with us, but I guess we’ll never know.
After 14 number one songs, The Judds are still remembered to this day as one of the greatest country music acts of all time, all because Naomi believed in Wynonna’s talent.
I would highly recommend this series to anyone. It was done very well. Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon.
