Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I am going to talk about Ashley McBryde. I’m going to be honest with you, I was not a fan of her for the longest time, because I guess I didn’t really give her music a chance. But I am a huge fan of Carly Pearce, so when she sang with Ashley in her song “Never Wanted to be That Girl” I started to really listen to Ashley’s other music, and it turns out it’s pretty good. I want to start by talking a little about the start of Ashley’s music career.

Ashley self released a demo album in 2006, and she moved to Nashville in 2007. Ten years later, after playing every gig she could, she finally signed a recording contract. She released her debut single “A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega” the same year. She also made her Grand Ole Opry debut the same year.

My favorite song of hers is “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.” This song is about how no one believed in her when she first moved to Nashville, and she’s finally proving to them that she can make it big. In the beginning of the song she sings “Don’t waste your life behind that guitar. You may get gone, but you won’t get far. You’re not the first, you won’t be the last. And you can tell us all about it when you come crawling back. That road you’re on, just winds and winds. You’re spinning your wheels and wasting your time.” Then in the chorus of the song she sings “But when the lights come up and I hear the band. And where they said I’d never be is exactly where I am. I hear the crowd, I look around, and I can’t find an empty chair. Not bad for a girl goin’ nowhere.” I really like the story of this song, because there are so many people who move to Nashville and no one believes they can make it. Then these people make it big and prove everyone wrong.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon!
