Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! June Carter Cash was in the public eye pretty much her whole life, but having Maybelle Carter as her mom, it was hard not to be in the public eye. June began singing with The Carter Family when she was ten years old, and after The Carter Family broke up, June still performed with her mom as part of the group Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters.

Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters performed a lot during the 1960s and 1970s, which was during the time that June married Johnny Cash. June began singing duets with Johnny in the 60s, and four of their duets became top ten hits.

Whenever I think about June, I either think of her singing with Johnny or I think of her singing with The Carter Family, which made me wonder if she ever released any solo songs. It turns out she released many singles between 1949 and 2003, but only one of them charted at all.

I think people got used to her always sharing the spotlight with someone else, which isn't a bad thing, but I don't think she was ever thought of as a solo artist. In a way, I think the popularity of her mom and her husband overshadowed her talent. June was a very good singer, but it seems like people only take time to listen to her if it's a duet with Johnny. I think she should be remembered as more than just Maybelle's daughter and Johnny's wife.

Thanks for reading. I'll be back soon!
