Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Beyoncé is country now. That is a sentence I never thought I would say, but it is true. She released two country songs, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES.” Most country fans, including myself, are not a fan of these songs because no matter how hard she tries, she’s just not country. Today I want to talk about my main issue with her going country.

There are so many new country artists who are working hard every single day to have their big break in country music. Obviously, these artists dream of one day having the number one song on the country charts. If an established pop star like Beyoncé decides to go country, they are jumping so far ahead of new country artists because everybody already knows who they are. If country radio would decide to play a pop star, that would be really unfair to the artists who are working hard and deserve a spot on country radio.

Imagine growing up dreaming of one day becoming a country star, then one day you move to Nashville to make that dream come true. While you’re working to make that dream a reality, some pop star comes along and ends up having the number one country song even though they probably don’t know much about the genre. That would not be right.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
