Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I am going to talk about country music one hit wonders. There have been many through the years, so I decided to talk about several of them. The people on this list are considered one hit wonders because they only ever had one top ten song in their career.
The first one is Rhett Akins (Thomas Rhett’s dad.) Rhett has released quite a few singles to the radio, but only one of them made it to number one on the charts. That song was “Don’t Get Me Started,” from 1996. It kinda surprised me that this was the song that did the best out of all of his songs, not that it’s a bad song, just in my opinion “That ain’t My Truck” is his most remembered song in his career. I guess it wasn’t his most successful though.
The next one hit wonder on the list is Chuck Wicks. Chuck had several radio singles, but the song that made him a one hit wonder was “Stealing Cinderella,” from 2007. This song made it to number five on the charts. I don’t think many people remember this song, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good song, because it is a really good song. But for some reason a lot of people don’t remember it.
The next one hit wonder is Gloriana. Gloriana had a big hit back in 2011 called “(Kissed You) Good Night.” This song made it to number two on the charts, and they never had another hit as big as that one. This is a very good song, so if you don’t know it please go check it out.
The next one hit wonder on the list is Raelynn. In 2014, Raelynn’s song “God Made Girls” made it to number seven on the charts. Even though she has a lot of other great songs like “Love Triangle” (my favorite song of hers) she never had another top ten hit so far in her career.
The last one hit wonder is Runaway June. I know they are still pretty new, but their 2018 song “Buy My Own Drinks” was their only top ten song. It made it to number eight on the charts. As much as I like their music, I don’t picture them having too much more success, because in the short time they have been recording music, two of the band members left the band, one of which was the lead singer. So they're pretty much a brand new band. I really hope they will have more success, but I kinda doubt they will.
Let me know who your favorite one hit wonders are. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon!
