Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! The “Country Music 4 Ever Country Legend Highlight” artist of the month is Dolly Parton. Dolly made her debut in 1959 and has had 25 number one hits.

Dolly was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. She was the fourth of 12 children.

Dolly grew up in a musical family. Her mother taught her both church music and ballads her ancestors brought to America. Dolly's grandfather was a preacher who wrote the song “Singing His Praise,” by Kitty Wells. Dolly's uncle Bill encouraged her singing by buying her a guitar. When she was ten years old, her uncle got her a spot on a television variety show.

Nashville began to notice Dolly's talent, and when she was 13 she made her Grand Ole Opry debut.

She eventually became Porter Wagoner's duet partner on his TV show, which really made her career take off.

As her career kept taking off, she decided it was time to move on from being Porter's duet partner. Even though it was painful for her to do, it was the right choice. She has since gone on to become one of the most popular singers of all time.

Thanks for reading. Throughout the month, I will post fun facts about Dolly on Facebook and Reddit. I'll be back soon!
