Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Morgan Wallen released his new album “One Thing at a Time” today. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the whole album yet because it has 36 songs. So today I am going to talk about large albums.

It is becoming popular for artists to release albums with over 30 songs. Morgan released his double album “Dangerous” two years ago, which had 30 songs. Zach Bryan released an album last year called “American Heartbreak,” which had 34 songs. Now we have “One Thing at a Time,” which has 36 songs.

I know the biggest reason for releasing such a large album is money. Since streaming has become one of the most popular ways to listen to music, it has become very important that singers get paid a large amount of money from streaming services. Spotify is one of the most popular streaming services, so I will use Spotify for an example. Spotify pays an artist an average of $.04 per stream, $4 for every 1,000 streams, and $4,000 for every million streams. So, it makes sense that artists are releasing large albums because the more streams they get, the more money they make from streaming services.

I know large albums are mostly for the money, which is fine if you are in the music business, but as a fan, I don't know that you can fully enjoy such a large album as much as an album with maybe 12 to 15 songs. If I listen to a short album that is really good, it makes me want to turn it on again and listen to it from beginning to end a second time, but if I listen to an album with over 30 songs on it, I don’t think I will want to listen to all 30 songs from beginning to end all over again. Sometimes I think less is more.

My point is, I don’t think it is as easy to like an album if it has a lot of songs because it takes a while to listen to the whole thing, and I don’t think most people will take the time to listen to a large album over and over again.

Thanks for reading. Please let me know what your thoughts are about large albums. I’ll be back soon!
