Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! In 2021, Kelsea Ballerini won two CMA Awards, “Musical Event of the Year” and “Video of the Year” both for “Half of My Hometown” with Kenny Chesney. They are the only CMAs she has ever won. Over the years, she has received 10 CMA nominations (not including the ones this year).
I think a big reason why she hasn’t won more is because of her label. She is signed to Black River Entertainment, which is an independent label. Other artists signed to Black River are Pryor Baird, Ray Fulcher, Scotty Hasting, Josiah Siska, and MaRynn Taylor. I’m sure you can tell from this list that Kelsea is the only big name Black River has. I think because of her not being signed to a major label, she gets overlooked by many people.
This year, she is nominated for “Female Vocalist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” for “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat.” I think that is the best album she has ever released, but I also think she has some serious competition with Lainey Wilson’s album “Bell Bottom Country.”
I would love to see Kelsea win an award tonight, or maybe even a couple. It will be very interesting to see who takes home the awards tonight.
Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
