Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! I was recently scrolling through Facebook reels when a video for a new song stopped me in my tracks. The song was “Alive and Well” by Alex Key.

Who is Alex Key? That’s the question I was asking after hearing this awesome song. After a little research, this is what I found.

Alex is an independent country artist who is keeping traditional country alive and well (like the song says, which I will talk about later.) He is from Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He grew up on his family farm where his mom played a lot of classic country music, which is how Alex fell in love with it. In February, Alex had the honor of stepping into the circle of the Grand Ole Opry for the very first time. I’m sure it won’t be the last.

The song “Alive and Well” begins by him singing from the perspective of what country music might say to record executives about how traditional country is back. The first verse says, “Well hello Mr. Record man. Do you know who this is? That’s alright, I ain’t surprised, but I’ll give you a hint. I’m the one you left for dead on 16th Avenue when you stabbed me in the back after all I’d done for you. Well, you act as though you’ve heard a ghost. I guess you can tell that this is country music, and I’m alive and well.”

This song is kind of an update on the George Strait and Alan Jackson song “Murder on Music Row,” which talked about how country music didn’t sound traditional anymore. Now that there is more traditional country music on the radio, I like how this song is telling people that.

This is such a creative song. If you are interested, Alex has a lot of other great songs. You can find him anywhere you stream music.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
