Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! If you would ask any country music fan who the best vocalist in country music is, they would probably say either Carrie Underwood or Martina McBride. As much as I like Carrie, I would have to say Martina is the best vocalist in country music. So today I am going to be talking about Martina McBride.

Martina released her debut single “The Time Has Come” in 1992, which peaked at number 23 on the country charts. Since then she has released many other singles to Country radio, many of which became big hits. Surprisingly though, only five of her songs went to number one on the country charts, and one other song went to number one on the adult contemporary charts. Even though she only had six number one songs, she also had 14 other top ten hits as well.

“Independence Day,” the song she is known for, only peaked at number 12. It doesn’t really surprise me though, because the radio is a little funny about playing songs with storylines like this one. This is probably also why her song “Concrete Angels” didn’t make it to number one either. But, I totally respect people who are brave enough to release songs like these to the radio, because people need to hear them.

I recently got the chance to see Martina in concert. I’ve been to a lot of concerts, so I’ve seen a lot of performers, but Martina is near the top of the list of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. She wasn’t as high energy as some of the other people I’ve seen, but that’s not a bad thing. When you see someone who is at her level of superstardom, hearing her sing is a lot more important than seeing a high energy stage production. She is a very good performer though, and as everyone knows, she’s an awesome singer. Even though she’s 56 years old, she can still hit the high note at the end of “A Broken Wing,” and that is very impressive. I don’t even think I could hit that note, and I’m nowhere near 56 years old.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon!
