Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Sometimes when songwriters get together to write a new song, they have a certain artist in mind who they would like to sing their song. A lot of times, though, it ends up being recorded by another artist for various reasons. There have been many songs that were originally supposed to be sung by another artist. So today, I am going to talk about some of those songs.

Zac Brown Band had huge success with their song “Chicken Fried,” but it was not supposed to be their song. It was originally going to be recorded by Alan Jackson. Alan decided not to record it, though. He told his producer, “I just had a song about cornbread and chicken, and I had a song about bologna. Every album, I've got these songs about food, so I just don't think I want to do one about chicken fried right now.” It worked out for Zac Brown Band that Alan decided not to record it.

Blake Shelton's song “She's Got a Way With Words” was originally going to be recorded by Jake Owen. Jake liked the song, but he decided not to record it because he didn't want his ex to think it was written about her. I think it was very nice of him to think of her, and it worked out for Blake that Jake was being thoughtful of his ex.

Kenny Chesney's song “American Kids” was actually supposed to be recorded by Little Big Town. Little Big Town had this song on hold and were going to record it, but then Kenny heard the song and thought it would be a great lead-off single for his album. Little Big Town decided to give the song to Kenny, since he had his heart set on recording it. It might've been a bad choice for them to give away a song that became a hit, but it was very nice of them.

Thanks for reading. I'll be back soon!
