Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! What is the most iconic country song of all time? What songs were so popular that people still remember them like they were released yesterday? There is not only one right answer to this because there are so many great country songs. Today I am going to talk about what I think are some of the most iconic country songs, but since it is hard to narrow it down to the most iconic country songs of all time, I narrowed it down to songs from 1960 to 1980. I will only have one song by each artist on this list, so even though some artists on the list have multiple iconic songs, I only chose one of them. This will be a two-part post, so the other part will be posted tomorrow.

The first song on the list is “Crazy” by Patsy Cline. This song was released in 1961. It was written by Willie Nelson. Patsy took this song to number two on the country chart, and it also crossed over to the pop chart as a top ten single. This song became the all-time most played song on jukeboxes in the United States in 1996.

The next song on the list is “Ring Of Fire” by Johnny Cash. This song was released in 1963. It was written by June Carter Cash and Merle Kilgore. It was originally recorded by June's sister, Anita Carter. Johnny's version became one of the biggest hits of his career. It stayed at number one on the country chart for seven weeks.

The next song on the list is “Stand By Your Man” by Tammy Wynette. This song was released in 1969. It was written by Tammy and Billy Sherrill. It was the number one song on CMT's list of the top 100 country songs. Not only that, but it also stayed at number one on the country charts for three weeks.

The next song on the list is "Hello Darlin"' by Conway Twitty. This song was released in 1970. It was written by Conway and was named the number one song of 1970. It became his signature song when performing with Loretta Lynn. Conway would frequently sing the song directly to Loretta.

The next song on the list is “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin"' by Charley Pride. This song was released in 1971 and was written by Ben Peters. It became Charley's eighth song to reach number one on the country chart. It was his only single to reach the top 40 on the pop chart.

The last song on the list is “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. This song was also released in 1971. It was written by John, Bill Danoff, and Taffy Nivert. This song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. It was certified platinum on April 10, 2017. It has sold over 1.6 million copies in the United States.

Thanks for reading. Like I said earlier, I will post the second half tomorrow, so if your favorite song didn't make the list it could be on the second half. I'll be back soon!
