Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Since Father’s Day is tomorrow, I thought I would talk about songs about dads today. People always talk about boys having close relationships with their dads, which is true, but girls also have very close relationships with their dads as well. Country music has many dad-daughter songs, so I want to talk about some of them today.

The first song I want to talk about is “My Father’s Daughter” by Anne Wilson. This is a very sweet song about her relationship with her dad. In the chorus, she sings, “This woman I’m becoming, the world might put some labels on it, but no matter where I go I’ll always be my father’s daughter.”

The next song I want to talk about is “Dads and Daughters” by MaRynn Taylor. This song also talks about the close bond and love between a father and his daughter. At the beginning of the song she sings, “Ten little toes, she has his nose and the blue from her mother’s eyes. His hands were shaking round that pink blanket. He hoped he was holding her right.”

The last song I want to talk about is “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks. This is one of my all-time favorite songs about dads. This song talks about him going to ask his future father-in-law for his daughter’s hand in marriage. As he stands in the living room, he sees pictures of his girlfriend as a little girl sitting on a shelf. He then begins singing about the pictures he sees by singing, “She was playing Cinderella. She was riding her first bike, bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight. Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin. Dancing with her dad, looking up at him. In her eyes, I’m prince charming, but to him, I’m just some fella riding in and stealing Cinderella.”

There are so many other songs I could’ve talked about, which I will list down below. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers. Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
