Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Brad Paisley has had major success on country radio over the course of his career. He has had 21 number one songs such as “He Didn’t Have to Be,”  “Mud on the Tires,” and many others. But today I want to talk about one of his songs that was not as popular as some of his other songs. The song I am going to be talking about is his 2018 single “Bucked Off.”

“Bucked Off” is in my opinion one of his best songs, because it was written in such a creative way. It is a breakup song that uses rodeo references throughout the whole song. For example the first verse of the song is “Its been a great ride, but here we sit tonight, the look in her eyes says something’s wrong. This ain’t a wild bull, it’s just a bar stool, but it’s all I can do to just hang on. And George Straits on the jukebox in the corner singing about cowboys riding away.” I think the rodeo references are probably why this song didn’t do too well on the radio. Because we recently found out, thanks to Cody Johnson, that it is now possible to be too rodeo for radio. I know it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. But the reason for people to say this is, the word rodeo is now a reference to animal cruelty. I’m sure it was someone from a big city who knows nothing about a rodeo that came up with this.

I think the radio is just afraid to play songs like “Bucked Off” because people get too sensitive about stuff and they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. So I guess it’s not really the radio’s fault that they don’t play songs like this. I just find it kind of strange that the radio can’t play songs about country things like a rodeo, but there are a lot of other things about the radio I don’t understand either.

Thanks for reading, I’ll be back soon!
