Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! If you know me you know I am a huge fan of Loretta Lynn, but most of you may not know Loretta has a granddaughter named Tayla Lynn who is also a country singer. Tayla is one half of the duo Twitty and Lynn, which is a salute to Loretta and Conway Twitty. Conway’s grandson Tre sings with Tayla in the duo, but Tayla also recorded some of Loretta’s songs by herself. Today I am going to review her album Tayla Lynn Sings Loretta Lynn.

The first time I listened to this album I was blown away by her voice and the fact that the sound in every single song made me feel like it was the 1970s again when country music still sounded country. Tayla sings some of Loretta’s biggest hits and some album cuts from some of Loretta’s albums. There are a couple songs I want to take a couple minutes to talk about.

The first song I want to talk about is “God Bless The Children.” This song is about how even little kids have to deal with problems just like adults do. In the chorus of the song she sings “God bless the children everywhere poor little souls with a cross to bear I guess when he said bring the little ones to me the good Lord knew how the world would be.” This song was written very well and Tayla’s voice sounds awesome singing it.

Another song I want to talk about is “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” which is a cover of an old Kitty Wells song. Tayla sings this song with Loretta and their voices blend very well together. I would highly recommend for you to listen to it.

The last song I want to mention is “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” Loretta’s biggest hit. In my opinion this is the most special song on the album because Tayla sings it with her aunt Patsy Lynn (Loretta’s daughter). I think this song is special because Loretta wrote it and sang it and now her daughter and granddaughter are singing it, so it is a song that is being passed down through generations.

There are a lot of other good songs on the album, so I would recommend for you to listen to it if you haven’t yet. I’ll be back soon!
