Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Granger Smith released 15 radio singles from 2008 to 2014, and none of them charted at all. Then finally, in 2015 he released his sixteenth radio single “Backroad Song,” and it went straight to number one. I can’t imagine how it must’ve felt to go from having 15 songs that the radio didn’t even take the time to play, to having a song go straight to number one. He has had a little more radio success since then, and hopefully he will have more in the future. In my opinion Granger should have had more radio success than what he had, but sometimes it doesn’t matter what the radio plays. Sometimes you just like a song even though the radio doesn’t play it. So today I am going to talk about a couple songs I like that failed on the radio.

The first song I want to talk about is “Footprints on the Moon” by Gabby Barrett. This song is about following your dreams and not letting anyone stop you. I remember when I first heard this song was going to be the follow up single to “The Good Ones.” I was excited because it is one of my favorite songs off of her album “Goldmine.” Sadly though, this song didn’t catch on like I hoped, and it only peaked at number 48 on the charts.

The next song I want to talk about is “Beer With Jesus” by Thomas Rhett. I think a lot of people got the wrong idea of what this song is about. It’s not about getting drunk, it’s about him imagining having a conversation with Jesus, and what he would ask him. This song peaked at number 19 on the charts, which is still pretty good. I don’t know if this song really failed on the radio, but I think it could’ve done a lot better though.

The last song I want to talk about is “Getting Over Him” by Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi. I think when this song first came out a lot of people thought it was going to be a huge song, but surprisingly it only peaked at number 29 on the charts. It really surprised me that this song didn’t do better, because Jon Pardi is really popular, and Lauren Alaina is still working on getting really popular. Hopefully the new record deal she signed will help with that. Lauren has had a lot of success as a duet partner. She had songs like “One Beer” with Hardy and Devin Dawson and “What Ifs” with Kane Brown. She also should’ve had another hit with the song “Thinking bout you” with Dustin Lynch, but that’s a story I won’t get into today.

Let me know what your favorite songs are that failed on the radio. I really appreciate everyone who took the time to read this. I’ll be back soon!
