Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I am going to be counting down the top five saddest album cuts in country music.

At number five on the list is “Dad’s Old Number” by Cole Swindell. This song talks about him calling his dad’s phone number after he died and forgetting that his dad is no longer there to help him with his problems or just to talk about what’s going on their lives. This song made me tear up the first time I heard it and I still tear up every time I hear it. I feel if you can make someone cry with a song then it’s a good song.

The song at number four is “I Hope They Get to Me in Time” by Darius Rucker. This song tells a story of him getting in a car accident, and as he is waiting for the ambulance to come he sees his life flash before his eyes. He thinks of the day he got baptized and the day he got married and a lot of other important times in his life. This song is another tearjerker.

The song at number three on the list is “Water in His Wine Glass” by Maddie and Tae. This song is about a man who is an alcoholic. In the song they are praying that God would help him by pouring water in his wine glass. There is another song that is similar to this one called “Same Day, Different Bottle” by Lauren Alaina. This song tells the story of Lauren’s father who was an alcoholic. I would recommend checking out both of these songs.

The song at number two is “Don’t Wanna Write This Song” by Brett Young. This song tricked me the first time I heard it, because I thought it was just about a bad breakup he went through. But in the bridge of the song you learn that the woman he fell in love with actually died. I think that was the biggest surprise I ever had while listening to music.

Finally, the song at number one is “Build Me a Daddy” by Luke Bryan. This song tells the story of a little boy in a toy store. He hands a picture to the man behind the counter of a kid with a soldier, and he says “Sir, I’ve heard you can build anything. Could you build me a daddy?” I think this is the saddest song I have ever heard before. I know there are so many little kids that can relate to this song because they have lost their parents. Country music is life whether it’s good or bad. Thanks for reading I’ll be back soon!
