Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Today I am going to talk about a song that stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it. The song is “When I Call Your Name” by Vince Gill. I first heard this song several years ago when I was first really getting into country music. I was listening to a throwback show on the radio, and “When I Call Your Name” came on. I remember not knowing who was singing, all I knew was whoever this guy was, was heartbroken. You can hear it in the lyrics of the song, but not only in the lyrics. You can hear how heartbroken he is just by listening to his voice. I think if I can tell someone is heartbroken just by the sound of their voice and not even the lyrics they’re singing, then they are doing something right.

In the song “When I Call Your Name” he sings about his girl leaving him when he is at work, and when he gets home nobody answers when he calls her name. He then finds a note she left for him saying she grew weary of living a lie and had to leave him. In the chorus of this song he sings “Oh, the lonely sound of my voice calling is driving me insane. And just like rain, the tears keep falling. But nobody answers when I call your name.”

Like I said, this song broke my heart the first time I heard it, and it may sound crazy, but I think that is why I like this song so much, because it made me feel something. I think that’s why I love country music so much, because it makes you feel every emotion you could possibly feel.

Thanks for reading. Let me know what song stopped you in your tracks the first time you heard it. I’ll be back soon!
