Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Throughout the history of country music, there have been many songs about being proud of where you come from. In most cases in country music, it is some small no-name town such as Baskin, Louisiana (Lainey Wilson), or Sneedville, Tennessee (Morgan Wallen.) Have you ever wondered which state most country singers are from?
I researched the hometowns of every artist who had a number one country song in the past ten years (2015-2024) to figure out which state has the most country stars. Keep in mind I also included pop stars who had number one country duets as well, so not every single person is a country singer, but everyone topped the country charts. Before I tell you the number one state, I will say the other states in the top three have the same number of artists, so I will go over them before number one.
Texas made the top three with 14 chart-topping artists. Those artists include John Driskell Hopkins of Zac Brown Band, Granger Smith, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert, Mike Eli of Eli Young Band, James Young of Eli Young Band, Jon Jones of Eli Young Band, Chris Thompson of Eli Young Band, Maddie Font of Maddie & Tae, Parker McCollum, Niko Moon, Cody Johnson, George Birge, and Koe Wetzel.
Tennessee also had 14 chart-topping artists. Those artists include Kenny Chesney, Ashley Monroe, Kelsea Ballerini, Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Kane Brown, Russell Dickerson, Morgan Wallen, Brandon Lancaster of Lanco, Hillary Scott of Lady A, Mitchell Tenpenny, Jelly Roll, Ernest, and Jessie Murph.
And finally, the number one state was Georgia, with 22 artists. Those artists include Luke Bryan, Tyler Hubbard, Thomas Rhett, Jason Aldean, Cole Swindell, Sam Hunt, Billy Currington, Brantley Gilbert, Lauren Alaina, Zac Brown, Coy Bowles of Zac Brown Band, Clay Cook of Zac Brown Band, Graham Deloach of A Thousand Horses, Zach Brown of A Thousand Horses, Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town, Tripp Howell of Lanco, Jared Hampton of Lanco, and Chandler Baldwin of Lanco.
In total, country music has represented 24 states as well as Canada and New Zealand in the past ten years. Down below I will have a list of the other states and how many artists came from them. Thanks for reading. I'll be back soon!
