Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! I was recently scrolling through Facebook reels when videos of an up-and-coming artist kept coming up. I fell in love with her voice right away, and the overall sound of her music was so good. Her name is Mae Estes. If you had the chance to see Luke Bryan in concert this summer, you would be familiar with the name because she was one of his openers. I’ll give you a little background on her life and how she got to where she is now, then I’ll talk some about her music.

Mae was born in Hope, Arkansas, and fell in love with music at an early age. She began performing when she was seven after she told her mom she could outsing LeAnn Rimes on the national anthem. It turns out she didn’t hold a candle to LeAnn; however, she did have an impressive voice for only being seven years old. She continued performing around town and turned her poetry and journals into melodies and started singing original songs.

Although Mae dreamt of moving to Nashville, she remained in Arkansas to achieve a degree in mass media communications. As soon as she earned her degree, she hurried off to Nashville to follow her dreams. She began working any job she could to pay her rent while also writing songs and performing for anyone who would listen. In 2020, she signed her first publishing deal with Plaid Flag Music.

Mae has so many great songs, such as “Mountain of a Man,” “Mr. Fix It,” and “Thinkin Bout Cheatin.” However, my favorite song of hers is “What I Shoulda Done.” I love the overall feel of this song. The vocals are awesome, and the sound is so good.Mae reminds me of some female artists from the 90s. Her music has a similar vibe to Jo Dee Messina or Lee Ann Womack, in my opinion.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
