Welcome back to Country Music 4 Ever! Meghan Patrick is currently at number 24 on the charts with her hit “Golden Child.” This is such an amazing song, and I’m so happy to finally see her having success in America instead of just being popular in Canada. The more I listen to “Golden Child,” it reminds me so much of a song that was coincidentally released 18 years ago today.

On October 22, 2007, Brad Paisley released his number one hit, “Letter to Me,” off his album “5th Gear.” This is a song about if he could send a letter to his younger self, what he might say in the letter. Just to give you an idea of the song in case you’ve never heard it before, he changes the chorus slightly throughout the song, but the first chorus says, “Oh, you got so much goin’ for you, goin’ right, but I know at seventeen it’s hard to see past Friday night. She wasn’t right for you, and still you feel like there’s a knife stickin’ out of your back and you’re wonderin’ if you’ll survive, but you’ll make it through this, and you’ll see you’re still around to write this letter to me.”

Meghan released “Golden Child” on September 6, 2024. This song basically tells the same story as “Letter to Me,” but it’s from a woman’s perspective. The chorus says, “Just be careful what you wish for, honey you never know, it might come true. Don’t be tempted by the easy money. It might cost more than you’re willing to lose. The same thing that takes the edge off can take the shine off after a while. So wear your diamonds on the inside, ‘cause everything that glitters ain’t golden, child.”

I’m not saying Meghan stole Brad’s song idea or anything even close to that. I’m just saying I find it interesting how two songs written by different people can turn out so similar. Both of these songs are special in their own way, and I think they will both leave a positive impact on country music.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back soon!
